Pune, India: Dr. Rahul Walawalkar, President & MD, Customized Energy Solutions India and President, India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) won the ‘Global Young Entrepreneur Excellence Award 2020’ for his invaluable contribution & leadership in the field of energy storage and renewable energy at the ongoing virtual 11th World Renewable Energy Technology Congress & Expo (WRETC) on December 15, 2020.
The Energy and Environment Foundation Global Excellence Awards was introduced in 2011 by the Energy and Environment Foundation to recognize excellence, innovation, best practices, and entrepreneurship to honor individuals for their excellent contributions, commitment, professionalism, and actions that have made a positive impact on the environment.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rahul Walawalkar, President & MD, Customized Energy Solutions (CES) India and President, India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) said, “I am honored to receive the Energy and Environment Foundation’s ‘Global Young Entrepreneur Excellence Award 2020’ in energy storage and renewable energy category. It has been a remarkable journey over the past 16 years as renewable energy and other emerging technologies, such as energy storage, have matured around the globe. I have been fortunate to get an opportunity to enter this field at the right time and learn from experts and thought leaders. It has been a privilege to lead IESA for the past 8 years and help shape the regulatory and policy framework for advanced energy storage technologies. Dr. Rahul Walawalkar is also the recipient of the ‘Brad Roberts Award’ which recognizes outstanding industry contribution conferred by the US Energy Storage Association, ‘Power Innovations Award 2016’ conferred by the Independent Power Producers Association of India, and the ‘Storage Crusader Award 2017’ awarded by the Renewable Energy India. He is also the recipient of India Smart Grid Forum ‘President’s Award 2018’ that recognizes his invaluable contribution towards the growth of Smart Grids in India.
The 11th virtual edition of the WRETC & Expo event is currently taking place (December 15-16, 2020) with the theme of the expo being, ‘Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency & Sustainable Solutions for a Green Economy’. The conference is focused on green technologies that ensure clean, reliable, and affordable renewable energy supply.
